Amobi Okoye Signs With the Texans; McCardell Signing Official

OkoyeThe Houston Texans and rookie Amobi Okoye have agreed to a six-year contract, so Okoye will be at training camp when it starts today.  Contract negotiations went late into Thursday night before a deal was struck.  Terms of the contract have not been disclosed, but Okoye is expected to sign it this morning.  He was the last Texan to fail to appear at training camp check-in yesterday at Reliant Stadium.  Okoye was the Texans’ first-round draft pick.

The team also made the announcement official.  Receiver Keenan McCardell has agreed to a one-year contract.  The arrangements were made yesterday, with McCardell to sign his contract today.  He’s expected to be at training camp, which kicks off today at Reliant Stadium.  The 37-year-old agreed to an $860-thousand deal, allowing McCardell to play for his hometown team for the first time.  He’s a graduate of Houston’s Waltrip High School.
