The Texans offense showed up in full force on Saturday afternoon, as they traveled to Arizona to play the Cardinals and put up 391 yards of offense in a shootout 33-20 win. The leg of Kris Brown will earn a rest for his solid play on Saturday, as he kicked four field goals in the win, including two of 25 yards, one of 38 yards, and a final kick of 40 yards. The offense was paced by the passing game, as three Texans QB’s went a combined 18-for-29 for 252 yards and one TD. Sage Rosenfels led the way for the QB’s, going 8-for-13 for 125 yards and a score. Starter Matt Schaub went 9-for-12 for 108 yards. The running game was paced by solid running by Samkon Gado and Wali Lundy, who both ran 8 times each for a combined 55 yards. Starter Ahman Green ran 6 times for 19 yards.
Houston put the game away with 17 points in the 3rd quarter, as after Arizona pulled it tied at 13, the Texas scored the next 17 points to go up 30-13. First Charlie Adams caught a 40-yard pass from Rosenfels, then after a Kris Brown field goal, Jacoby Jones took the following Cardinals punt and sped 80 yards to put the Texans up by 17. After the Cards pulled to 30-20, early in the 4th quarter, Brown booted his final field goal of the game from 40 yards out to end the scoring at 33-20. The preseason continues for the Texans on Saturday, August 25th as they travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys.
