Texans’ O-Line needs to step up

As satisfying as the Houston Texans’ 20-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs was, it didn’t take away from the shouting match between team head coach Gary Kubiak and guard Chester Pitts. The shouting match in question took place due to the breakdown in communication on the offensive line; as a result, penalties took place and mental errors accumulated. Hence the shouting match between Kubiak and Pitts.
Kubiak explained to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, “I want us to be more consistent up front. Some of the things that took place concern me. We’ve got too many veteran players that have been playing together for a long time to make some of the mistakes we made.” As those of you who watched the game either in person or on television can attest to, the Texans’ O-line immediately got better, especially from the late 3rd quarter on, as they executed flawlessly in the ball-control department. The team, if they expect to go 2-0, will need more of the same effort (minus the shouting on the sidelines) if they expect to defeat the home team Carolina Panthers this Sunday.
