Johnson Reprimanded After “Taunting” Green

Posted by Matt Loede on October 8th, 2007 filed in News

Texans coach Gary Kubiak calls his defensive tackle Travis Johnson’s actions during the game with Miami yesterday “inexcusable.”  Johnson was part of the collision on the field that resulted in Dolphins quarterback Trent Green receiving a severe concussion while trying to make a block.  Johnson says Green’s attempt to block him by hitting his knee was “malicious,” and after the play Johnson stood over Green and taunted him.  Johnson later was reprimanded by Kubiak, and Johnson apologized.  Green returned to join the Dolphins before they left Reliant Stadium.

As a Texans fan his taunt upset me and got me going. After what happened to Ced, no Texan should be taunting an injured player that’s down and out. Even if the block was low and dirty. In my perspective (from the camera view of when it occurred) Green’s block was unintentional to hurt either Travis or himself.
