Texans Injury News and Notes 11/7/2007

Green

QB Matt Schaub is expected to be ready to return to action after the Texans bye week against the Saints, Sunday 11/17.

RB Ahman Green’s knee will bother him for the rest of the season. He knows it, but will have to deal with the pain. Kubiak said last week he was “concerned” for Green, who played the first half of Sunday’s game against the Raiders. He left the game because he re-aggravated the knee injury. Green is heading to see Dr. James Andrews “to see what’s really going on. And what the solution is.” Green has already had 3 MRIs that haven’t deciphered enough on his knee injury, and Dr. Andrews can hopefully find a way to keep the injury prone back on the field.

WR Andre Johnson is expected to return against the Saints. WR Jacoby Jones was not a factor against the Raiders, but may be incorporated if the Texans have to come back in a passing battle versus the Saints. WR Andre Davis is returning to the backup role.

TE Owen Daniels played versus the Raiders with a high ankle sprain and should enjoy some rest this week.

DE Mario Williams will have a chance to play OLB while he switches with OLB Danny Clark. This could be a move to put some speed on the outsides to cover Saints RB Reggie Bush. The Houston Chronicle reported Gary Kubiak said this week that Williams is “the most consistent player through this year.” And HoustonTexans.com reported Kubiak like Williams attitude towards football and sees him getting better because he’s working hard.

CB Dunta Robinson will have surgery after seeking a second opinion with Dr. James Andrews. He had a torn ACL and a torn hamstring, separated from the bone. Now CBs Fred Bennett and Demarcus Faggins will be starting for the Texans at cornerback.
