Kubiak’s Patience Must be Wearing Thin for Green

Texans HC Gary Kubiak said he’s trying to remain patient with 30-year old RB Ahman Green. Green suffered a knee injury in Week 1 versus Kansas City, and he has dealt with the injury that has mostly kept him out of playing time this season. Green has been skipping Wednesday practices for the Texans while taking limited reps on Thursdays and Fridays. And if the knee injury continues to swell up after Friday practices, then Kubiak holds him out for the Sunday game. Green hasn’t been a force this season for the Texans as it looks like the injury will continually regress until next season.

Kubiak said it was likely that Green would not suit up for this week’s game at Cleveland. If so, RB Ron Dayne, who has done quite a good job with Green out, will start for the Texans. There is a chance that RBs Admichinobe Echemandu and Darius Walker could be suiting up too. Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle that the Texans are giving Ahman opportunities and chances to get on the field, but in actuality, Green better get healthy or he’ll be heading toward the IR this season. Kubiak said, “So we’re going to continue to try to have as much patience as we can, and hopefully he makes progress.” Hopefully he can.
