Texans OC Sherman Will Take Texas A&M Job

Texans Offensive Coordinator Mike Sherman will take the Texas A&M Head Coaching position at a press conference today at 12 p.m. The Aggies’ latest coach, Dennis Franchione, resigned during the post game conference after a solid win over their Lone Star State rivals, the Texas Longhorns. Sherman will look to turn around the Franchione’s Aggies with better recruits and a better system.

Sherman was Head Coach for the Green Bay Packers before accepting the Offensive Coordinator position with the Texans. This will be Sherman’s final season with the Texans, and Head Coach Gary Kubiak has some decisions to make since the team relies on, and utilizes Sherman’s offensive gap blocking style. The Houston Chronicle reported it is up to Kubiak to let Sherman go or keep him for the rest of the season. Reportedly, Sherman will have little time to begin networking and recruiting for A&M, but a big name coach like his should be impressive to players in Houston eager to get a start in a new Texas A&M offense.
