Texans Coach Praises Dayne

Critics may call him “No Gain Dayne,” but coach Gary Kubiak expresses confidence in veteran tailback Ron Dayne.  The 29-year-old Heisman Trophy winner says he’s getting into the rhythm of the team this season.  He gained 78 yards on 16 touches in last Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Browns.  Kubiak calls Dayne “effective,” though the team “should have run the ball more.”  Kubiak says Dayne has been a constant for the Texans, someone players can count on.  Still, Dayne’s critics point out that he’s slow to get started, having been largely ineffective in his first six appearances this season.
