Alex Gibbs Named as Texans Assistant Head Coach
Posted by Matt Loede on January 10th, 2008 filed in NewsThe Texans will next season have the services of a man considered by some to be one of the best line coaches in the history of the NFL. Texans coach Gary Kubiak has hired Alex Gibbs to be assistant head coach. The two go back a long way. Gibbs spent 13 years as offensive line coach and assistant head coach at Denver, where Texans coach Gary Kubiak was a backup quarterback and offensive coordinator. Kubiak considers Gibbs one of his mentors. Gibbs replaces Mike Sherman, who’s now head coach at Texas A-and-M. The 66-year-old Gibbs has tried to retire twice, but keeps getting called back to coach games.
