TE Putzier Could Be Released

Putzier

TE Jeb Putzier is set to be released by the Houston Texans according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com. Putzier, located fourth on HoustonTexans.com’s Interactive Depth Chart, did not play up to the standard of his 4-year, $7.25 million contract, in which he signed in March of 2006. In 2007, Jeb had six receptions for 39 yards and one touchdown.

The Texans other TEs are Owen Daniels, Mark Bruener and Joel Dressen. Daniels was second on the team in receptions (63) and third in yards (768). He finished with three touchdowns, while Dressen had four receptions for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Unrestricted free agent TE Mark Bruener is expected to be signed back. Bruener had no receptions in 2007, but his blocking abilities are invaluable for Kubiak’s Texans.
