Texans Place Three on Waivers

Tight End Jeb Putzier and Centers Mike Flanagan and Drew Hodgdon were placed on waivers by the Houston Texans Tuesday as the Texans discern their future needs going into 2008.

Putzier’s TE play did not compare to fourth string rookie TE Joel Dressen, who outplayed Putzier down the final stretch of the season. As for the tight end position, 1st string TE Owen Daniels is on the rise to stardom in Houston, 2nd string blocking TE Mark Bruener is expected to be signed back, and Joel Dressen should fit will as the Texans 3rd string TE.

Flanagan’s play did not compare to starting C Seth McKinney after McKinney was placed on Injured Reserve by midseason. As for Hodgdon, who has been signed, released and resinged before by the Texans, he did not play well filling in for IR G Fred Weary. The Texans will be looking to fill these offensive line positions in depth before the 2008 Season.
