G/C Hadnot to Visit Texans

Former Miami Dolphins center and guard Rex Hadnot will visit the Houston Texans on Friday. Hadnot, an unrestricted free agent, started every game for the last three years for the Dolphins. He was drafted in the sixth round in 2004 out of the University of Houston after a very impressive college career. He backed up C Seth McKinney in 2005 while having a breakout second year while only allowing 26 sacks and leading a Dolphins run game that averaged 118.6 yards a game with a 4.3 yards per rush attempt. But as the Dolphins dwindled, Hadnot did too. In 2007, he switched to RG after HC Cam Cameron put the center job up for grabs. Although Hadnot regressed from his explosive second season, he dealt with the inconsistent Miami Dolphins in his early NFL career.

Hadnot’s Houston based agent, Brian Overstreet, said, “We think the Texans would be a great spot for Rex…Rex would solve an immediate need. He’s from Lufkin, and he played at UH, and he likes everything that’s going on with the Texans. It’s just a matter of getting a deal done.”
Last season, Texans starting C Seth McKinney fell to a knee injury which required reconstructive surgery and led to a position on the injured reserve. Also, third-string C Chris White fell to the IR and may still end up third-string if Hadnot signs with the Texans. As for the 2007 second-string C Mike Flanagan, he was released after an unimpressive stint with the team. At 6-2, 325lbs, Hadnot has the chance to start for the Texans if he signs. If he does sign, he should flourish with the Houston Texans at C or G under Zone Guru Alex Gibbs.

The other teams looking for C/G Hadnot’s services are the Seattle Seahawks, the Cleveland Browns, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins.
