Texans Free Agents Visits In Line

With the Texans in dire need of improvement at the safety and at offensive line positions, they have lined up two visits to perhaps improve those positions.  Atlanta FA FS Chris Crocker and Tampa Bay C John Wade will be visiting for a chance to be part of the Texans move for improvement in 2008.

FS Chris Crocker may be an upgrade over last year’s Von Hutchins, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons over the weekend.  Crocker started 14 games for the Falcons in 2007 producing 55 tackles (51 solo), 11 pass deflections and 3 interceptions.  At 5’11”, 193lbs, the 27-year old veteran must impress the Texans management and coaching staff if he is going to be a part of the roster in 2008.  Crocker and Texans FAs SS Glen Earl and FS Will Demps could be on another team next season if the Texans don’t make a move now for a starting FS in 2008.

Whether or not the Texans interview with C/G Rex Hadnot went well, he’s on his way to visit the Browns.  Hadnot most likely did not receive a contract offer as the Texans are looking for a different type of C.  John Wade, the 33-year old, 6’5″, 299lbs center, has started for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his 10 years in the NFL.  Wade started every game for the past three seasons for Gruden’s Bucs, and if he chooses to sign with the Texans then he can add to their depth at center, if not push for a starting spot if C Steve McKinney fails to be healthy enough to start in 2008.  There are still Texans fans who want to see the youth movement begin with Texans C Chris White starting at minicamps and offseason workouts.
