LB Thompson Leaves Browns for Texans

The Houston Texans signed former Cleveland Browns LB and special teams player Chaun Thompson to a two-year, $2 million contract on Friday. The unrestricted free agent’s contract also includes a $650,000 signing bonus. Thompson will compete for a starting outside linebacker position against newly signed LB Kevin Bentley to play opposite to starting LOLB Morlon “the Ultimate” Greenwood and next to Pro Bowl MLB DeMeco Ryans.
The second round draft choice from 2003 played college football at West Texas A&M and played his entire five-year NFL career for the Browns. His playing time dwindled throughout his pro career due to inconsistencies on defense while blitzing and shedding blocks, but Thompson may have the speed and versatility to make an impact with the Texans’ 4-3 defense.
