Former Jacksonville Jaguars backup QB Quinn Gray visited with the Houston Texans on Sunday and plans to sign a one-year, $635,000 contract with the team. The deal will also give Gray a $40,000 bonus.

Gray told the Houston Chronicle, “I don’t plan on leaving here. I’m ready to sign. We’ve been talking on the phone, and now I’m going to meet face to face with Coach Kubiak and coach Kyle Shanahan. My agent (Drew “the Shark” Rosenhaus) has an agreement in place. It’s a one-year deal.”

Although Gray’s deal isn’t finalized, Gray said, “The Texans have two good quarterbacks, and if everything goes like I hope it does, I’ll be added to the mix. I think that I can fit in here. I love Houston. I like the organization and where the Texans are headed. Hopefully, everything will go well when we meet (Monday at Reliant Stadium).”

Last season, Gray played behind Jags starting QB David Garrard. In 2007, he played eight total games, while starting four games totaling 986 yards and 10 touchdowns in 80 completions. On the ground Quinn ran for 57 yards on 19 attempts. He also had five interceptions and one fumble lost. Gray’s best career starts came in Week 9 and Week 17 of 2007. In Week 9, at New Orleans, Gray passed for 354 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. In Week 17, at Houston, Gray passed for 302 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.
