Texans Release C McKinney

Center Steve McKinney was released Tuesday by the Texans giving way for newly acquired C Chris Myers to start for the Texans in 2008. Second year C Chris White will backup Myers. McKinney was the Texans first unrestricted free agent signed in 2002. He started the majority of games for the Texans since then but dealt with injury problems which limited his play even to 2007. He ended his 2007 season, and career with the Texans, midway into the season after suffering a knee injury that he was expected to be recovered from for the 2008 minicamps. This offseason, the Texans released McKinney’s 2007 backup, Mike Flannagan, and traded their sixth round pick in April’s Draft for Chris Myers.
