Former Denver Broncos safety Nick Ferguson signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans on Wednesday, and he will join the Texans with several other former Broncos, including Texans HC Gary Kubiak. Ferguson, 33, finished his career with the Broncos on the injured reserve after losing his starting job to Hamza Abdullah. He was benched midway through the season after leading the team in tackles before suffering a knee injury. Ferguson will leave the Broncos for the up and coming Texans franchise who will give the hard hitter an opportunity for a starting job.

“I wish it were a longer deal, but I’m glad I’m familiar with the Texans coaches,” Ferguson said. “I’m going to another great organization with a lot of former Broncos.”

Ferguson started his career with the New York Jets and then continued his career for five seasons with the Denver Broncos. He was interested in the Texans and Seahawks before signing with. Ferguson will most likely not make the team’s offseason training program that begins on the 31st.
