Earlier this morning Texans HC Gary Kubiak told the present media he wouldn’t trade Sage Rosenfels to the Vikings. He and GM Rick Smith cited that the starting QB Matt Schaub’s shoulder has yet to fully heal and Rosenfels is the perfect insurance. Rosenfels went 4-1 when starting in place of the injured Matt Schaub last season. Therefore, the Texans will most likely keep Rosenfels come September.
“He’s important to our football team,” Kubiak said. “Our starter right now physically has a problem, coming off shoulder surgery, so Sage is very important to our football team.”
In late March, Kubiak assured Texans fans Rosenfels’ spot with the Texans after the signing of third-string QB Quinn Gray. “I don’t know what we would have done if something had happened to Sage,” Kubiak said. “I don’t want to go through that again. I think my philosophy has changed. I’ve become more of a three-quarterback guy.
Yet the Vikings are still pushing for Rosenfels in an attempt to get anything but Gus Frerotte, who will have 11 teams under his belt if he signs with Minnesota.
