Colvin Aboard - Texans Sign Veteran Free Agent LB

The Texans have moved to give Mario Williams and the rest of their defesne help, as the Houston Chronicle is reporting today that the team and free agent linebacker Roosevelt Colvin have agreed to terms, two weeks after they began talks.  GM Rick Smith and agent Kennard McGuire wrapped up the deal Sunday that will bring Colvin to the Lone Star State.

Colvin will turn 31 in September, and missed six games last season,  but has plenty of gas left in the tank and should be a solid addition to a Texans team that will continue to need help on the defensive side of the ball.  Back in his last full season with New England, he put up 8.5 sacks.  The Chronicle says that Colvin will start opposite Anthony Weaver.

The veteran LB was let go by the Pats after playing in 11 games and racking up 27 tackles and four sacks last season.  He was the Bears 4th round draft pick back in 1999, and his best season was the one before leaving for New England, when he put up 10.5 sacks and 64 tackles in 2002.
