Texans Now 6-7 After Gutsy 24-21 Win in Green Bay

Many feel that the Texans have not had a lot to play for the past few weeks, but for this gutsy group of players that have had a tough season, the last few weeks have showed just how good they could be. Winning again on Sunday 24-21 over the Green Bay Packers in frigid Lambeau Field, the Texans moved to 6-7 on the season, winning their third straight and second in a row on the road.

The team showed quite a bit of heart in not only winning on tough grounds, but in taking the ball on their own three-yard line with 1:49 left in a tie game, and getting to the Packers 22, enough room for Kris Brown to nail a 40-yard field goal with no time remaning for the win.

Having Matt Schaub back didn’t hurt, as all he did was throw for 414 yards on 28-for-42 passing with two touchdowns and one pick and a QB rating of 104.7. The last drive of the game showed just how good he and the offense could be, as he hit four straight big passes, the last to Owen Daniels for 27 yards to the Packers 25 with 28 seconds left.

A spike, three-yard run by Steve Slaton and a field goal later, and the Texans had their biggest win of the season. Slaton again had a great game, going for 120 yards on 2 carries, an average of 4.6 yards per carry. Kevin Walter caught an early score, and went on for a big game catching, as he had six grabs for 146 yards with a score. Daniels had 65 yards on six catches.

As hard as it is to believe, the now 6-7 Texans will look for .500 next week, though that will be a tough task as they host the 12-1 Titans at home.
