Texans DT Amobi Okoye Working to Be an Impact Player in 2009

Today’s Houston Chronicle reports that DT Amobi Okoye is working hard to be a force in 2009:

Texans defensive tackle Amobi Okoye is working to position himself for a better season this year, and listening to advice offered by new defensive coordinator Frank Bush and new defensive line coach Bill Kollar. “Me and (Kollar) spoke about playing the three-technique position and being on the same page,” Okoye said. “Just me doing more of what I did in college (at Louisville) as far as being aggressive and trying to get in the backfield and be disruptive.

“Instead of waiting to see, reading the shoulders to see what (the blocker is) doing, I’m trying to blow through his shoulders this time.” That’s the aggressive play that garnered Okoye so many accolades in college, and it’s that type of play Bush hopes the defense becomes known for this season.
