Texans Sign Undrafted Free Agent CB Parson

The Texans official site reports that the team has inked undrafted free agent CB Mark Parson:

The Texans have signed cornerback Mark Parson, an undrafted rookie free agent from Ohio, the team announced today. According to NFLDraftScout.com, Parson had a stellar pro day with a 4.4-second 40-yard dash, a 37.5-inch vertical jump and 22 bench press reps of 225 pounds.

Parson was a three-year starter at Ohio. Last season, he held Ohio State receiver Brian Robiskie, who was drafted in the second round by the Cleveland Browns this year, to three catches for eight yards in a near-upset of the Buckeyes.

He previously had a tryout with the Detroit Lions at their three-day rookie minicamp that began on April 30. Parson is likely to compete as a nickel corner with the Texans. He has good awareness and isn’t afraid to hit, as evidenced by this YouTube highlight clip from a game against Kent State.

Parson’s agent, Eugene Parker, also represents former NFL cornerback Deion Sanders. Parson was selected as a participant for “Prime U,” a pre-NFL combine camp run by Sanders where Parson trained in preparation for the draft with about a dozen other prospects in Carrolton, Texas.

Great signing for the texans. He will compete for the starting corner spot if Dunta doesn’t return. Will also be a great backup if anyone gets injurned. Best cover corner in this years class, was only beat once over 30 yards for TD or rec his entire college career. No one knows why not drafted including Dion Sanders.
