Texans Sign Seventh Round Pick Troy Nolan

Scout.com reports that the Texans have signed their seven round pick, safety Troy Nolan:

The Houston Texans have signed seventh-round draft pick S Troy Nolan, the team announced Thursday. Nolan is the second Texans draft choice to sign, joining CB Brice McCain.

Nolan (6-2 206) was the 223rd selection in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Arizona State.

Nolan started all 25 games in the last two seasons for the Sun Devils. He recorded 128 tackles (81 solo), 13 pass break-ups and 10 interceptions. Nolan has a way of finding the end zone, scoring five touchdowns on defense, with four interception returns and one fumble return. He tied the single-season school record with two interception returns for a touchdown in both 2007 and 2008. He served as a team captain during his senior year and was named second-team All-Pac-10 each of the past two seasons.

Nolan began his collegiate career at College of the Canyons Junior College in California. He was named All-Western States Conference first-team on defense in 2005. He helped lead the College of the Canyons to the National Championship, the Western States Conference Championship and the California State Championship in 2004.

Because Houston is not strong at either safety position, Nolan could push for a roster spot during training camp.
