The Houston Chronicle reports that Amobi Okoye is ready to put excuses aside and have a big season:
It is easy to run down the list of reasons — not excuses, legitimate reasons — that Amobi Okoye has yet to play like a high-end top-10 NFL draft pick. Okoye won’t list them, and he doesn’t want to hear them. He isn’t searching for an explanation, just seeking results. “I set a high standard, a high bar for myself, and haven’t achieved what I want to this point,” he said. That’s one reason it is hard not to like Okoye. He is an achiever, on and off the field. On-the-field success has been sketchy of late.
A starting defensive tackle, Okoye had a particularly poor effort for the Texans this past Saturday as he and his teammates were pushed around with ease by the New Orleans Saints, allowing 6.4 yards per carry. It was especially discouraging because Okoye is trying to erase the memory of a disappointing 2008 season.
