Jones Expected to Plead Guilty for DWI Charge Tuesday
The Chronicle reports on Jacoby Jones and his DWI charge which he’ll answer to on Tuesday:
Texans wide receiver Jacoby Jones is expected to plead guilty Tuesday to DWI and enter the Harris County District Attorney’s DIVERT program for a year, said his lawyer, Chip Lewis. “It’s a two-fold benefit,” Lewis said. “First, it’s a great opportunity for (Jones) to put this in a positive light. He’s going to do several public service announcements. And second, it illustrates to the community that this was just an aberration. He’s deserving of this agreement.” Police said Jones was asleep behind the wheel, car in drive, with his foot on the brake when they approached to arrest him on a charge of suspicion of drunken driving about 3 a.m. March 16, 2008. The Texans’ 2007 third-round draft pick had a breath test showing his blood-alcohol content was 0.13.
