Texans have interest in former Jets OG Alan Faneca

The Texans have their eyes on a recently released free agent, as they are reportedly one of the teams with interest in former Steelers and Jets OG Alan Faenca:

The Texans are expected to be one of the many teams checking out nine-time Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca. Faneca, 33, was released by the New York Jets on Saturday.

Faneca, who left Pittsburgh after 10 years to sign a five-year, $40 million contract with the Jets, is still owed $5.25 million by New York. That means he could sign with another team for or close to the $860,000 minimum for a veteran who has played for 12 years.

“I think everybody in football’s going to be interested in him,” coach Gary Kubiak said Sunday. “We’re going to do our homework. We’re going to check him out to see what he’s interested in doing at this stage of his career, what direction he’s headed.”

  1. Though Faneca’s playing performance declined last season, I think Texans is quite interested with his experiences and skills. Being a veteran football player, he’s certainly has a lot of things to share with the younger ones.
