Texans Will Likely Keep 3 Quarterbacks

Texans Head Coach Gary Kubiak announced Wednesday that the Houston Texans will likely be keeping three quarterbacks heading into the season.  Matt Schaub has become a well suited starting quarterback in the league, and Dan Orlovsky appears to be entrenched as his backup.   That means John David Booty and Tyler Sheehan remain fighting for the last spot.

“I’m trying to get a feel for Booty and take a look at Tyler also,” Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle. “I think we go to camp with three, maybe four, but I think it’s going to be three. We’ll have to make a decision between the two.”

Booty, a former University of Southern California quarterback, was drafted by the Vikings in the fifth round pick out of the 2008 NFL Draft.  He was waived in 2009, and spend time on the Titans practice squad later that season.  He, currently on a “Reserve/Futures” contract with the Texans, appears to be the front runner for the final quarterback spot on the roster.   Sheehan, an undrafted free agent out of Bowling Green, started three years for the Falcons, setting many records for the university, including most pass completions.  Check out the Bowling Green Football Record Book.
