TE Graham Continues to Work with First Team

Earlier this month, HoustonTexans.com reported that Texans Tight Ends James Casey, Joel Dreessen, Garrett Graham and Michael Gaines are all back in practice and competing for a spot behind the recovering starter, Owen Daniels. Daniels and Anthony Hill are still recovering from their respective knee surgeries. With Casey and Dreessen having plenty more experience at the pro level than Graham, one would think that Casey and Dreessen would lock up the starting snaps with Daniels on the bench. However, that isn’t the exact case. Rather, Garrett Graham is impressing the coaches and earning starting snaps.

“He’s got potential, but sometimes I think I holler at him more than anybody else,” HC Gary Kubiak told the AP. “He’s good, but he’s young, and he’s got to understand what’s expected of him. He’s getting a chance as a rookie that not many guys get. He’s basically playing as a starter when we go two tight ends, and we need for him to hurry up.”

This sounds like promising news for the former Wisconsin Badger, and hopefully he’ll get to where he needs to for the Texans come Indy on September 12.
