Two Teams Show for Pitts Workout, Two More Expected at Next

Chester Pitts wasn’t visited by the teams he announced were interested in him earlier this offseason: the Lions, the 49ers, the Seahawks, the Eagles and the Vikings.  In fact, the Vikings denied reports of interest in Pitts, and the Eagles  told Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer that the team won’t be attending Pitts’ Tuesday workout in Arizona.  Seattle, as well, via the Seattle Times have insinuated a lack of interest, in combination with the signing of OLG Ben Hamilton.  Rather, two different teams, preferring to go unnamed after the workout, showed up to see Pitts work out. However, secrets in the NFL are hard to keep, unless you’re Bill Belichick.

According to Jason Lacanfora, a source revealed the two teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts.  Lacanfora told NFL Total Access that their team representatives were present, and nothing seems imminent as Pitts has two other teams lined up for a workout next week. Its easy to say the Colts saw a lot of Pitts from 2002-2009, so their visit to Arizona may be something to look into for Pitts.  The Steelers have made moves inside and from outside to improve their offensive line since ORG Willie Colon’s achilles tear this offseason.  I’m sure they were looking to see if Pitts can give them something better than the veteran Trai Essex and young Jonathon Scott at right guard.  Former Patriot Logan Mankins isn’t giving up the Steelers left guard spot for sure.
