Rookie RB Ben Tate Struggling to Get Going in Camp

Rookie RB Ben Tate, mired in a three-way competition to start with veterans Arian Foster and Steve Slaton, is struggling to accelerate once hitting the second level, according to offensive coordinator Rick Dennison. “The veterans (Foster, Slaton) understand how fast things close,” Dennison said. “They are further along than (rookie) Ben (Tate).” Even though he’s currently third on the depth chart, Tate is widely considered the favorite to haul the rock most of the time once the regular season starts. Slaton is a different type of back, and will likely get most of the action in passing situations, but Tate should have ample opportunities to ring up yards and cross the goal line.
