FA DE Schobel to Take Time to Decide?

ESPN’s Paul Kuharsky reported last week that free agent, former Buffalo Bill defensive end Aaron Schobel may take time to sign a contract with what may be his last NFL team.  His hometown Houston Texans are the immediate favorite landing spot for Schobel; however New England has a “strong interest” in the 33-year-old Schobel.  Schobel was released by the Bills on August 4, and HoustonTexans.com reported today that Kubiak spoke with Schobel and they are on a “wait-and-see” approach to any potential signing.

“I think it’s still in the information process,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “I talked to him the other day, had a great visit with him. I think it’s just a matter of, every day, what does Aaron want to do and where does he want to do it. We’ll stay a part of that process, but as far as when, how, or whatever, I don’t know. We’ve got to keep going as a team.”

If the Texans can sign Schobel, it would make build excellent depth to the defensive line, allowing Antonio Smith to play both inside and outside on the Texans D line.
