Kubiak Comments on Poor Defensive Performance

Chris Duncan of the Associated Press reported that Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was not pleased with the Texans latest preseason effort against the New Orleans Saints on Saturday.  In particular, Gary Kubiak’s criticism was directed towards the defense, which gave up 409 yards overall, including 109 on the ground to the Saints team.  Kubiak said the team needs fixing:

“It wasn’t good. We got pushed around.  Our attention to detail, our effort at times, it’s not near what it needs to be for us to get ready to play Indianapolis here in a couple weeks. Obviously, we’ve got some things to fix and some issues to attend to and we’ll do that.'”

On the game, Kubiak said the team just wasn’t playing well.

“It’s not like we gave up a big play or anything.  They just kept pounding away. They converted many third down-and-6, -7 and 8-yard situations with simple draw plays and those type of things. We couldn’t get off the field. We helped them one time with a penalty… I don’t think it was anything they were doing.  he I just don’t think we were doing what we do very good.”
