Overreaction Theater Overreacts: Foster Will be Benched

NFL.com’s Adam Rank, who writes for their fantasy blog Overreaction Theater section, blogged that the Texans starting running back Arian Foster will be benched this season:

Texans RB Arian Foster will be benched for the entire season!

At least that is the snap judgement in this edition of Overreaction Theater.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak does not like fumblers. Not that other coaches are overjoyed when a player fumbles, but nobody seems to have a quicker hook than Kubiak, who changes running backs the same way that the late George Steinbrenner changed managers during the 1970s and 1980s.

Foster was having a pretty good night prior to fumbling, but you wonder if Kubiak will start bouncing his running backs again like he’s playing racquetball.

Last season, Kubiak didn’t put up with Slaton’s fumbling problem, benching him in games for fumbling and allowing him to take time to deal with what happened to be a neck related problem affecting his ability to carry the ball. Foster’s set up in a good position and has been running well this preseason.  Although Foster had a fumble, Banks is doing what he does best: overreacting.  Foster’s fumble on Saturday was the result of Saints defensive end Will Smith punching the ball out of Foster’s hand as he
