Fantasy Football: Texans RBs Foster and Ward

This afternoon I jumped online to ask Nick Scurfield of HoustonTexans.com‘s Live Chat what’s up with Arian Foster and Derrick Ward’s playing time in regards to both running back’s success. Scurfield responded:

Ward is going to get more involved in the offense. Averaging 8.3 yards per carry, he should. Kubiak said yesterday that Foster will be in when he’s fresh, and Ward will go in when he’s not

Good news for Arian Foster owners.  Even with Ward’s recent successes, it still looks like Foster will carry the load for the Texans, taking breaks for breathers.  However, Ward has scored a touchdown in each of the last three games.  His average is strikingly familiar to his New York Giants’ “Wind” role. So Ward could find himself fitting more and more into the Texans’ offensive picture.  Consider him a great handcuff for Foster owners, and for non-Foster owners, he could be (a) stashed away in 12 or less team leagues or (b) immediately plugged into your deep league team’s running back depth.
