Team as Whole Practices Tuesday, Defensive Unit Practices Wednesday

Diles (54) & Ryans (59)

The Houston media reported on Tuesday that the Houston Texans as a team put in their first and only day of practice for the bye week.  However, Nick Scurfield in his Texans Live Chat today reported that the Texans’ defensive unit was out practicing today.  The extra practice is much needed because the Texans’ defense ranks 31st overall and 32nd against the pass in the league.  Also after losing one of their top playmakers in DeMeco Ryans, the Texans will need to fill the “Captain’s” role.  Jerome Solomon of the Houston Chronicle reported that former sixth round pick Zach Diles is preparing to take the middle position.  Diles said he’s ready to do so, its his job.

“I’m going to have to suit up and go to work.  I’m definitely ready. This is what I get paid to do. This is my job. And I love what I do.  Like everybody, I have to step my level of play up. This is an opportunity to go out there and make plays and help us get these wins.”
