Johnson Reportedly Only Fined for Punches on Finnergan

Surprising news to some, understood to others – Andre Johnson avoided suspension today from the league following the Texans-Titans bout where Johnson hammered down on Cortland Finnergan in the fourth quarter.  The news originated in a report by Fox Sports that Johnson will only be fine.  NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora reported that both players will be fined $25,000 by the league instead of a suspension.  If the reports are true, Johnson will be, yet again, an integral part of the team’s offense and will be so in Philadelphia against the Eagles this Thursday night.  What Finnergan will take from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s decision to fine rather than suspend Johnson is in the air.  Hopefully he’ll take the fine as it is – the league’s trying to halt such activity; rather, than let it loosely set precedent to continue his dirty play and only look at another fine come Week 15 at Tennessee.
