The Houston Texans’ 6’2″, 210 lb. backup safety, Torrii Williams, was placed on the injured reserve this past week, adding another problem to the Texans’ secondary. With the available roster spot, the Texans promoted 6’4″, near-300 lb. guard, Shelley Smith. Williams played significant special teams time for the Texans, and he was the team’s fourth and last safety on the roster behind Troy Nolan, Eugene Wilson and Bernard Pollard. Smith has been on the practice squad for the majority of the season. He was a hard worker in training camp and blocked for Kubiak’s son at Colorado State.
