Texans Get a 7th Round Draft Pick from the NFL

The Texans were awarded a seventh-round compensatory draft choice by the NFL. The Texans’ compensatory pick will be the last pick in the seventh round.

Fans were hoping for a higher pick, possibly as high as a third-round selection, for losing cornerback Dunta Robinson in free agency. But the Texans signed guard Wade Smith and kicker Neil Rackers.

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The Texans have been awarded only four compensatory picks in team history.
