Kubiak Talks Schedule, Defense is Priority in Draft

The American-Statesman reported that Houston Texans Gary Kubiak is gearing up for this year’s draft.  This year, Kubiak stated defense is a big priority, but he’d be fooling himself if there were offensive holes to be filled, as well.

“We’ve got a change in scheme on defense. We’re trying to rebuild the defense with Wade’s scheme. That’s a big priority.”

“We want to get more explosive on offense.  To go into this draft thinking we’re OK offensively would be a big mistake.”

Kubiak also talked to about the upcoming 2011 regular season schedule.  Kubiak expressed that the three back-to-back games in the season are all part of the season, and he’s pleased that the team will have a late bye in Week 10.  When asked about the Texans’ December 22 game at Indianapolis, Kubiak stated its not about that late season game, its about Week 1.  The Texans host the visiting Colts Week 1 on Sunday, September 11.
