WR Kevin Walters Suffers a Broken Shoulder

Not at all the news out of the Texans’ 34-7 win over the Colts on Sunday was good, as Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports that wide receiver Kevin Walters suffered a broken shoulder.

Walter is expected to miss 10-to-12 weeks.

The 30-year-old wide receiver caught 51 passes for 621 yards and five touchdowns in 2010, second behind perennial Pro Bowler Andre Johnson. Walter had one reception for 14 yards on Sunday.

Houston entered the season with four receivers, so whether or not they place Walter on injured reserve, they’ll be looking for a receiver next week. Veteran David Anderson, who was released for salary cap purposes on July 30 and went to training camp with the Denver Broncos, is a veteran option that could be brought in. The Texans could also activate rookie Jeff Maehl from the practice squad.
