All offseason there was concern about who was going to take over after the team lost Pro Bowl FB Vonta Leach to the Ravens. Sunday, James Casey answered the call, playing a solid game and proving his worth to the team. He was a powerful lead blocker against the Colts, and also caught three passes for 29 yards. Casey also plays in the slot and goes in motion to wideout.
“It gives us a lot of options because we can run various offenses,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “We can run a two-back, one-back, three-tights (ends). James has not only turned into a fine player, but his football IQ helps us as a team, allows us to do a lot of things.”
Casey will probably get even more attention once the team gets RB Arian Foster back, as this past week he was blocking for backup running backs Ben Tate and Derrick Ward.
