Texans Fall to .500 After 29-14 Loss to Ravens

The Texans were celebrating two weeks ago their 3-1 record after what appeared to be a turn the corner win against Pittsburgh. Sunday in Baltimore, they walked out of a 29-14 loss to the Ravens probably wondering how much things have changed in just two weeks.

Now sitting at .500, the Texans will have to regroup, as they fell to the Ravens 29-14 in a game where at one point they were ahead 14-13 with 8:36 left in the third quarter.

Billy Cundiff made five field goals in the win for the Ravens, and Joe Flacco threw for 305 yards, going 20-of-33 passing with a rushing score and Ray Rice ended with 101 yards on 23 carries for the Ravens (4-1), who have won three straight games.

Anquan Boldin led all receivers with 132 yards on eight receptions and Ricky Williams added a late rushing TD for Baltimore.

Matt Schaub was okay on the day, but it wasn’t enough. He went 21-of-37 for 220 yards and a touchdown for the Texans, who have lost three of their last four. Jacoby Jones totaled 76 yards and a score on four receptions, but Arian Foster was limited to 49 yards on 15 carries in defeat.

The Ravens did just enough on defense to earn their third straight win. Baltimore held Houston scoreless over the final 21 minutes and limited Foster all day long when the Texans could have used a big day for them.

Even though the Texans were without wide receiver Andre Johnson and linebacker Mario Williams, they led briefly in the third quarter and trailed only 19-14 until a 4-yard touchdown run by Ricky Williams with 4:01 left.

But now all that doesn’t matter. There’s soul searching to be done, and they are not in the best place to do it with the amount of injuries on the team at this time.

The club now has to get ready for the Titans next week, a team that will be fuming after a bye week where they had to relive more than once their last game, a 38-17 loss in Pittsburgh.
