On the day after the Texans second consecutive loss, head coach Gary Kubiak says he has no intention of changing starting quarterbacks.
“T.J. continues to do some good things,” Kubiak said. “You complete 13 out of 16 throws in this league, and you’re doing something right. We’ve got to trust him and move forward, and everybody’s got to do their job around him.”
Since taking over injured quarterbacks Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart, Yates, a 2011 fifth-round pick out of North Carolina, has completed 78-of-130 pass attempts for 902 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.
If Kubiak were going to make a move, there’s no shortage of experience on the Texans bench. Backup quarterbacks Jake Delhomme and Jeff Garcia are a combined 78 years old, have appeared in 227 NFL games, passed for 46,301 yards with 286 touchdowns, 184 interceptions and have five Pro Bowl appearances.
