45-Year-Old Man Dies Falling From Escalator at Reliant Stadium

A 45-year old man attending the Texans preseason finale Thursday fell to his death while horsing around on an escalator at Reliant Stadium, police said according to the Houston Chronicle. The incident happened during the Texans’ 28-24 win against the Vikings.

The man was allegedly trying to slide down the outside of the handrail on the escalator at the Coca-Cola Gate near the northeast side of the stadium when he fell three stories, landing on the pavement, police said.

Reliant spokeswoman Nina Jackson could not confirm a time for the fall or specific elevator linked to the incident late Thursday but Reliant Park did issue a statement confirming there had been an escalator accident involving a fan and that the victim had been taken to the hospital.

Houston Fire Department officials said the man was taken by a private ambulance to the hospital. Police said that according to initial information they received, the person died at the hospital.
