TE Owen Daniels Limited in Practice with Back Injury; Shaun Cody and Ben Tate Out

Gary Kubiak says tight end Owen Daniels was “very limited’ in practice with a back injury on Friday and could miss Sunday night’s game in Chicago.

Daniels, Houston’s second-leading receiver, sat out practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Kubiak says he’ll be a “game-time decision” for the huge game vs the Bears in Chicago.

Kubiak said nose tackle Shaun Cody (ribs) and backup running back Ben Tate (hamstring) will definitely sit out. Tate also missed last week’s game against Buffalo.

Daniels leads the Texans with five TD receptions and ranks second in receptions (37) behind Andre Johnson. If Daniels can’t play, Kubiak says “it affects us a great deal,” because of how much he relies on tight ends in his offense.

I’m not the first one to suggest that Kubs continue to rest OD, Tate and Cody. Why risk injury to them in a game where the Texans are 16 pt. favorite and thus, aren’t likely to be needed. After the Jags, we have three tough road games in a row. THAT’S where those guys will be needed.
