NFL roster cuts 4;00pm est.

So the NFL roster cuts are set to be announced today, and as of 3:23pm est. these are the following cuts made by the Houston Texans according to NFL.com: FB Zach Boren, LB Elliot Coffey, G Bryan Collins, LB Ja’Gared Davis, RB Ray Graham, CB Travis Howard, QB Stephen McGee, OT Nick Mondek, DE Earl Okine, TE Adam Schiltz, P Andrew Shapiro

So far no real shockers in my opinion. One of the battles to keep an eye on is the #3 RB. The coaches have been praising Deji Karim due to his experience and we have seen rookies Dennis Johnson and Cierre Wood. Wood seemed to have a good showing in the first game and Johnson has seemed to lose focus at times. I am pulling for Cierre Wood, I think Arian Foster can help him to learn what it takes to be a pro due similar to the way Foster had to learn. Another battle worthy of note is the backup QB. In years past Kubiak carried 2 QB’s and stashed his project on the practice squad however Keenum has shown too much to think he will make it through wavers without getting picked up by another team. So I think He will just keep all 3. Defense has alot of questions everywhere. DL seems set, Terrell McClain has flashed some potential. The linebacker unit has alot to examine. Connor Barwin is with the Eagles now, so Whitney Mercilus will take his place. Brian Braman will see more time and I think he will shine in a situational pass rush role and continue to make big special teams plays. But other than that Cushing is the only guranteed starter. There will definately be some new looks there. The secondary Is Without Glover Quin, but Ed Reed is set to be our new stud safety and second round pick DJ Swearenger will see time but the rest of the back end will need to be figured out.

So until further news, this is what we have. I will keep you posted on other cuts as they are announced… have a good dayeddie
