Texans To Release Safety Ed Reed

Ed Reed

The Texans are releasing free safety Ed Reed today, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Reed was demoted and replaced by Shiloh Keo in the last two losses to Indianapolis and Arizona.

After Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Cardinals, Reed, who was in on 12 plays, said the Texans were “outplayed” and “outcoached.”

On Monday, interim coach Wade Phillips, who made the decision to demote Reed, said he preferred to keep his reaction to Reed’s criticism “in house.”

Reed, 35, played 32 snaps in the 27-24 loss to the Colts.
