NFL Draft 2015: Houston Texans Team Needs

The Texans had a solid comeback season in 2014 with new head coach Bill O’Brien, and in 2015 they will look to keep moving forward as they look to add to their roster on NFL Draft weekend. Check the new favorite teams to bet on NFL after free-agency moves at Mybookie.ag.

It’s going to be a busy weekend for the Texans, who have ten picks in front of them when they get to NFL Draft night, which will take place April 30th to May 2nd, and this year will take place in Chicago, moving away from New York where the draft has been held it seems like forever.

Here’s a complete list of the 10 picks for the Texans: Round 1 (16), Round 2 (51), Round 3 (82), Round 4 (116), Round 5 (152), Round 5 (175), Round 6 (195), Round 6 (211), Round 6 (216), Round 7 (235).

The Texans do have needs as they get set for the 2015 NFL Draft, and this team can make things interesting by using some of those 10 picks as trade bait.

Here’s four areas of need for the Texans as they continue to prepare for the draft.

1. Wide Receiver – With Andre Johnson gone and playing for their biggest rival in Indianapolis, the team needs to find a viable player who can catch the ball in key situations. DeAndre Hopkins will enter camp as the teams #1 wide out, but the team has a ways to go in order to have an above average wide out unit.

2. Linebacker – Brian Cushing is starting to decline, and the team will look to address his eventual replacement as well as add to their linebacking core early on. With 10 picks (provided they keep them all), it’s not a stretch to think this team will look to draft a linebacker in the first two rounds.

3. Cornerback – CB Johnathan Joseph’s deal is up after this season, and the team will likely have a tough contract time keeping him around as other teams will look to give him a big deal to jump ship. The team needs more depth at corner, and while most of their picks overall will be on the offensive side of the ball, the team needs to find a decent corner to eventually replace Joseph and and will look to that somewhere in the mid-to-late rounds.

4. Quarterback – Seems like a no-brainer that the Texans will look at the quarterback spot early in the draft. The club last season used Ryan Fitzpatrick for most of the year, but he was sent packing to the Jets. The team would have to make a huge deal to get a player like Marcus Mariotta, and that probably won’t happen. They will have options like Brett Hundley and Bryce Petty.

I agree that the pass offense, as well as the pass defense, is at the very top of the list of things that the Texans needs to improve on.
