Can the Texans Earn a Huge MNF Win Over the Ravens to Stay in the Playoff Hunt?

At 4-6 the Texans are still in contention for a postseason spot in the AFC, but have work to do as another loss would make getting to the playoffs very tough in a conference with the likes of the Pats and Steelers.

Tonight Houston has a tough task against the Baltimore Ravens as the week ends with the Texans and Ravens going at it on Monday night football.

The Texans are six-point underdogs in the 7:30pm affair, and don’t forget for all the great NFL action to Check out William Hill’s football odds and match updates.

Houston has to make sure to keep the offense in check, and that starts with keeping down Joe Flacco, the longtime Ravens quarterback who isn’t exactly having a good season.

Flacco is having major issues with keeping the ball out of his opponents hands, and also has little to no touch on the deep ball to talk about, with having completed just 10 of 42 long balls this season.

That means if the Texans can keep the Ravens in check in the underneath passing game, they should be able to hold down Baltimore in general.

The other key for the Texans when it comes to offense is going to be controlling the line of scrimmage with the run game.

That means look for a lot of Lamar Miller, who should get plenty of chances to run the football in tonight’s contest. Miller is having a decent season, but he’s not had that breakout game that the Texans and their fans have been looking for all season.

Tom Savage has been decent since taking over for an injured DeShaun Watston, but if the game is in his hands and he’s got to win the game, that is bad news for the Texans in terms of this game.

Savage has to avoid turnovers, which means he’s got to watch out for Ravens blitzes, as well as he’s got to have good pocket awareness and hold the ball when taking hits in the game against what’s been a solid Ravens defense in 2017.

The Ravens will have home field, so making sure to get off to a quick start will be a key for the Texans, and also pressuring Flacco. If they can do that, they have a shot to pull off what would be a monster win in the AFC, a conference where you have two very good teams and a bunch of very average teams – including the Texans.

Prediction: Texans 20 Ravens 17
