The Texans may decide to move on from running back Lamar Miller this offseason according to Sarah Barshop of ESPN.
Miller turns 27 years old in April and posted a career worst 3.7 yards-per-carry after fading down the stretch in 2016. Owed over $14 million over the next two years, the Texans could save $5.75 million if they cut him after June 1. Even if Miller does return the team could transition him to more of a passing-back role.
At time veteran Alfred Blue outplayed him in 2017 and rookie D’Onta Foreman was pushing him for the starting job before landing on injured reserve with a torn Achilles tendon. The talented but erratic Foreman would be the most likely replacement if the Texans choose not to draft another back provided he makes a full recovery.
